Caregivers of America and Self-Care
There is one generation that has been consistently defined by its obsessions: avocado toast, memes, Harry Potter … and self-care. They are often perceived as entitled snowflakes, but millennials might be the generation of emotional intelligence. In 2015, according to the Pew Research Center, more millennials reported making personal improvement commitments than any generation before them. They spend twice as much as boomers on self-care essentials such as workout regimens, diet plans, life coaching, therapy and apps to improve their personal well-being. They’ve even created self-care Twitter bots.
But why is there a generational divide in taking care of yourself?
Following WWII, people around the world settled down to enjoy peace and prosperity – and raise families. From 1946 to 1964, the largest generation in history was created – the Baby Boomers. These are disproportionately America’s Caregivers today.
Our Caregiver SOS ESRT Presentation is aimed at those from this generation who believe we need to “tough things out” out of their control, such as aging, Covid, national politics and other things out of their control. Through this presentation we can offer attendees the awareness and necessary understanding to develop a meaningful “resiliency plan” that addresses caregiving their children needs, their loved ones concerns and especially their own health and wellness in the dynamic years to come.
