Presentation will include a brief overview (medical training systems, paperwork standards, and logistical limitations), followed by practitioner-informed communication strategies that engage medical professionals effectively and a brief Q&A.

G.J. Hodson (he, they, she), MA, is a queer, pre-disabled caregiving educator bridging research and lived experience. After serving as a 30-something, solo care partner for his adoptive grandfather, he earned a Master's in Sociology while facilitating care support groups. They have facilitated workshops for the National Institute on Aging and the LGBTQ+ Elders Conference, and will be a panelist this fall at the Gerontological Society of America's Annual Meeting. She currently serves on the planning council of Texas PRIDE Health Collaborative and in the Research Collaborative of the National Alliance for Caregiving.
