Maxine Vieyra, Alzheimer's Association
Maxine has been with the Alzheimer's Association for close to 13 years, and has worked in the non-profit environment for up to 27 years. In the last 15 years, her focus has been about addressing the needs of an aging population. In her current role, Maxine supports the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association to help increase access and reach to those living with Alzheimer’s and promoting early detection in order to benefit from recently approved treatments. She is a dementia-care practitioner providing support to those recently diagnosed, family caregivers and professionals wanting to learn more about the disease process, and mitigating behaviors.
While learning about this disease, Maxine’s own mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and found herself facing the same challenges she learns from families in spite of having a network of support. Since then, her current role is more personal wanting to advocate for the many living with this terrible disease by reaching minority and underserved communities in honor of her mother.
