Care partnering is more than a set of tasks; it is a relationship. In this heartfelt and practical session, Dr. Jennifer Carson shares her top-10 care partner values, developed through years of personal experience, professional practice, and research in the realm of dementia support. Participants will explore the power of language, the importance of self-care, the role of authentic partnership in building mutual respect and shared decision-making, the value of listening beyond words, and the art and science of recognizing distress as meaningful communication that can guide more proactive care. Together, we will reflect on how to support unique individuals while honoring their rights, strengths, and inherent worth. This session is designed to inspire, equip, and affirm care partners on this journey of giving, learning, and growth. Even in the hardest moments, care partnering can be a path to help each of us grow into the fullness of our shared humanity.
