Volunteers Lead Give Back to Older Adults

By on May 18th, 2026

Volunteers recently participated in a hands-on volunteer activity benefiting Good Samaritan Community Services, assembling At-Home Fitness Kits for older adults in San Antonio.

Each kit contains resistance bands, hydration packets, non-slip socks and a QR code to a strength building workout accessible online.  The workout is created by a fitness advisor from the WellMed Charitable Foundation Senior Centers.  The kit is designed to promote strength, balance, and overall health for older adults.

Good Samaritan’s mission is to support individuals and families through services that address economic hardship, including older adults.  The WellMed Charitable Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to Good Samaritan last December to support operations at their local senior center. Additionally, members at Good Samaritan benefit from regular health screenings provided by a WellMed community nurse.

The activity highlights the region’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, with leadership teams contributing directly to local outreach efforts through organized volunteer initiatives.

Grant funding is made possible by donations made to the WCF; volunteer activities are organized by employees.
