ZOOM – Family Dynamics & Dementia

Registrations are closed for this event

The core elements for a solid family unit are trust, respect, caring, nurturing and love. The dynamics of family relationships are complex and confusing. A constant tug and pull of time, energy and devotion to creating a loving family is exhausting. Combine those “routine” struggles with that of caring for a loved one with dementia and you have entered a whole new realm of family dynamics.

Why is it that “when the going gets tough” it seems like there is only one (or two) who is ready, willing and able to stay the course. When it is clear what Mom/Dad need, no one seems to want to make the decisions necessary to improve their quality of life. Once decisions are made, other family members may be quick to question or criticize your actions. Some family send money without hesitation yet they are unable or unwilling to visit. It falls on your shoulders and it seems that there is no help in sight.

Nestor H. Praderio, M. D. will address the dynamics of the family unit as they grapple with the diagnosis and care plan of Alzheimer’s and other related dementia. He will review statistical data in regards to Caregivers and offer insights to create a balance in caring for our loved one and maintaining a healthy family relationship.
