Deciding to move a loved one from home into a care community is never an easy task nor are the reasons for placement the same for every individual. We will discuss the physical, psychological, social and financial reasons one should consider when evaluating whether the move of a loved one is in their best interest. Various types of senior living options and how to assess these settings will also be presented.
Jill Piazzi, MA, CMC
Jill Piazzi is the owner and operator of Gray Matters, an Aging Life Care Management™ and consulting business serving mostly seniors and their loved ones in San Antonio and surrounding areas. Jill holds a Masters in Social Gerontology with an emphasis in Adult Learning, is a certified care manager and an advanced professional member of the Aging Life Care Association™. She has worked in the senior care industry for over 27 years as a social worker in long-term care, administrator for a geriatric mental health clinic, director of an assisted living community and running her care management business in the Austin and San Antonio markets. Working with seniors has been her passion since childhood, as she spent time after school and during breaks assisting nursing facility residents with activities, physical therapy and caring for those who were vision impaired. Jill currently serves on several non-profit boards and committees dedicated to caregiving, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
