In life we though that IQ, Intelligence Quotient was the standard bearer on how well we did in life. This is a myth that has been handed down for years. There are brilliant people who never get to accomplish their goals in life no matter how intelligence they are. Overtime, we came to understand that much more was need. Today we call that Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence enables success in a much more powerful manner. Emotional Intelligence enables family and professional caregivers to achieve a higher level of understanding, and consequently offer a better degree of care Caregivers with high EI are not immune to the negative aspects of their profession or the challenges of dealing with family members but we have come to see that with the skills of Emotional Intelligence they have greater resilience in terms of the day-to-day need to cope with difficult issues and the physical and emotional pain. Caregivers with higher EI were able to avoid compassion fatigue and were more successful experiencing “compassion satisfaction.” Join Dr Jamie today in understanding how we can accomplish this need to become emotionally intelligent in ways that can assist our lives and our loved ones accomplish so much more.
