Caregiver Teleconnection

As a caregiver we are often asked “how is your loved one doing?”. Every now and then someone may ask how you are doing. Almost as a reflex your response is
“I am fine” or the ever popular “I’m hanging in there”. But are you really? Do you dare share that you are mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted? Are you feeling frustrated, guilty, short tempered, depressed, isolated and overwhelmed? Have the hurdles of health insurance, medication management, daily care and family dynamics drained your energy and outlook?

These feelings and emotions may surface when you take on the role of caregiving. There is no doubt of the unconditional love and devotion you have for your loved one. Just remember that you, too, are important. All of your emotions – positive and negative are valid and important. Dr. Praderio will facilitate an in-depth discussion on Caregiver feelings.
