The Communicator Awards, the industry’s leading international program recognizing excellence in the field, has awarded two projects produced by the WellMed Charitable Foundation (WCF) with honors in its 31st annual competition. Another nine patient education projects produced by WellMed also received recognition.
The Award of Excellence, the program’s highest honor, went to five projects. Two of those were for episodes of the feted “Caregiver SOS: On Air” radio show and podcast. The weekly 30-minute program is produced by the WellMed Charitable Foundation, the non-profit partner of WellMed Medical Management, Inc.
WellMed received six Award of Distinction honors, including two for episodes of the recognized “Docs in a Pod” radio show and podcast. These awards go to projects that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement.
This is the fourth consecutive year WellMed and the WCF have received honors from The Communicator Awards, sanctioned and reviewed by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA).
Caregiver SOS on Air was one of the first radio show/podcasts in the country dedicated to supporting family caregivers with its first broadcast in 2011. Veteran radio broadcaster, Ron Aaron Eisenberg, and WCF Executive Director, Carol Zernial have co-hosted the series since it first aired. For the award-winning episodes, WellMed communications specialist Cherese Pendleton is credited with booking the guests and helping to identify key show topics.
