Caregiver Teleconnection sessions are one hour learning sessions that can be done via Zoom or over the phone for caregivers of older persons. Experts from around the country share information important to caregiving. Caregivers will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as hear from other caregivers.

Our sessions are geared for the family members taking care of a loved one over the age of 60. Professionals are also welcome to participate as well.

Please join Jeffrey Darling, PhD as he explores Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias, brain pathology and biomarkers. He will discuss the disease, stages, diagnostics, hallmarks of the disease. He will also provide a general overview of a brain PET Imaging, giving an overview of what a scan is like and what images look like.

Jeffrey Darling, PhD
Dr. Jeffrey Darling completed his PhD in Neuroscience from Tulane University under the direction of Dr. Jill Daniel. At Tulane, Jeffrey’s research focused on aging and development models surrounding sex differences in learning & memory, decision making, and impulsive and compulsive behaviors. Jeffrey then translated that expertise to a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin under the direction of Dr. Laura Fonken. At UT Austin, the Fonken lab examines how age and sex and the interactions between immune, nervous, and endocrine systems regulate complex behavioral processes such as cognitive and mood related behaviors across the lifespan. Additional focus of the lab lies in examining the impact of late age on levels of neuroinflammation both at baseline and following peripheral insult and the impact this carries for cognitive dysfunction. Currently, Jeffrey works as a Medical Science working across the fields of Neuroscience, Neuroimmunology, and Neuroinflammation for Life Molecular Imaging (LMI). At LMI, Jeffrey’s team aims to be a leader in the Molecular Imaging field by developing innovative products that improve early detection and characterization of chronic and life-threatening diseases, leading to better therapeutic outcomes and improved quality of life. When not in the field, Jeffrey is an avid yogi, biker, dog dad, and plant enthusiast.
