Caregiving During COVID-19: How to Cope with Fear

Whether caregiving for a loved one or trying to care for ourselves during the pandemic – we are all experiencing a series of common emotions. When we don’t address these emotions, they can impact upon our physical and mental health. This series will provide a forum to discuss these feelings and experiences around COVID-19, along with practical tips and answers to your questions.

We are still living in a time of unknowns – new COVID vaccines and new varriants. This session will address coping with ongoing fear and anxiety.

Elliot Montgomery Sklar, PhD and Lucy Barylak, MSW
Dr. Elliot Montgomery Sklar is a public health professional with vast experience in managing health programs and initiatives. With over a decade of practice in supporting the health of the public through academic work, research and service to communities across the Americas, Dr. Sklar shares his passion and expertise in support of diverse caregivers and the complex issues they face. Lucy Barylak, MSW, is a Social Gerontology Consultant with West-Central Montreal Health in Montreal, Canada. Lucy is a renowned expert in caregiving having won the Queen’s Jubilee Award twice, presented by the Canadian Homecare Association. She has also been a family caregiver for her mother for many years.
