Cheri Mathis, LSCSW
Cheri Mathis is the Director of Community Education at the ALS Association and a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience working at the intersection of serious illness, emotional wellbeing, and quality of life. She leads national educational initiatives that support individuals living with ALS and their caregivers from diagnosis through bereavement, translating complex medical and emotional experiences into practical, accessible guidance. With a background in hospice, palliative care, and behavioral health, Cheri is passionate about strengthening caregiver resilience, supporting meaningful conversations and values-based decision-making, and helping individuals and families navigate life’s most challenging transitions with clarity, compassion and confidence.
