Gloria Miranda, BA
Gloria Miranda is a graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville and holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology. Gloria is currently working towards her Master’s degree as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC-LPC). Her experience is extensive in serving vulnerable populations for 20+ years.
Gloria is the Program Manager/Caregiver Specialist for Caregiver SOS by the WellMed Charitable Foundation where she currently provides bilingual psychoeducational and emotional support programs to families who care for those with chronic illnesses and progressive diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD). She is a certified Master Trainer for national renowned and bilingual evidence- based programs such as the Stress Busting Program for family caregivers of dementia (SBPD), chronic illnesses (SBPG), and the Dealing with Dementia Program (DWD) by the Rosalynn Carter Institute.
Gloria is an active leader in her community and serves on a national level as a member of the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC), the Latinx COVID -19 Task force, Latinx Voces en Salud, and the American Counseling Association (ACA). Gloria is the former Policy & Government Chair for the Latino Caucus, and served as the Incoming Chair-Elect for the Caucus Collaborative of the American Public Health Association (APHA). Locally, Gloria is the former Chair for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Hispanic Outreach Committee (HOC), and is a member of the Alamo Caregiver Support Coalition.
Gloria is a strong advocate for the Latino community and continues to partner and work collaboratively to increase access for bilingual programs to the Spanish speaking community. In 2016, Gloria was awarded the “Distinguished Nationally Known Health Professional Award”, by the Latino Caucus of the American Public Health Association (APHA), for her professional contribution to the Latino community.
