The WellMed Charitable Foundation supports older persons (age 60+) and their family caregivers as a primary focus of our mission. Each year the foundation opens a call for proposals to fund projects that focus on social determinants of health, including food insecurity, economic security, transportation, housing, and social isolation.
Our last grant cycle opened late Fall of 2022 and the WCF received nearly 100 requests for consideration. The projects are reviewed by an internal committee and then by our local volunteer councils before a formal recommendation is made to the Board of Directors. A total of $1.145 million was awarded to agencies in Texas, Florida and New Mexico.
