SUMMARY:A Series of Emotions How to Cope with Fear
DESCRIPTION:Caregiver Teleconnection sessions are one hour learning sessions that can be done via Zoom or over the phone for caregivers of older persons. Experts from around the country share information important to caregiving. Caregivers will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as hear from other caregivers. \nOur sessions are geared for the family members taking care of a loved one over the age of 60. Professionals are also welcome to participate as well. \nCaregivers often experience a series of common emotions in the process of providing care. When we don’t address these emotions\, they can impact upon our physical and mental health. This series will provide a forum to discuss these feelings and experiences\, along with practical tips and answers to your questions. At the end of this session\, for those that are interested\, Elliot and Lucy will stay on the line and offer personal support. This part of the program will not be recorded. How to Cope with Fear Coping with the declining health of someone around us can trigger fear – fear about what is to come\, and even fear about our own health. This session will address coping with ongoing fear and anxiety. \n

SUMMARY:Behavioral Distrubances in Dementia
DESCRIPTION:Caregiver Teleconnection sessions are one hour learning sessions that can be done via Zoom or over the phone for caregivers of older persons. Caregivers will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as hear from other caregivers. \nOur sessions are geared for the family members taking care of a loved one over the age of 60. Nestor H. Praderio\, M.D. will lead a candid discussion on the potential for escalating dangers associated with behavioral problems as well as the havoc it may create for caregiver burnout and the overall welfare of the patient. The session will conclude with a question and answer period. \n

SUMMARY:Caregivers: Time to Say Goodbye! How to Eliminate Toxic People From Your Life
DESCRIPTION:Caregiver Teleconnection sessions are one hour learning sessions that can be done via Zoom or over the phone for caregivers of older persons. Experts from around the country share information important to caregiving. Caregivers will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as hear from other caregivers. \nOur sessions are geared for the family members taking care of a loved one over the age of 60. Professionals are also welcome to participate as well. \nThere’s an old myth that frogs will pull down other frogs trying to escape a pot of boiling water. That’s likely the stuff of folklore\, but the dynamic is real: In everyone’s life\, there will always be people who will resist\, threaten and sabotage the possibility of self-improvement. There are always people in our lives who stand in the way of our self-improvement. As caregivers\, we all want to hit the “Easy Button” as we have to consolidate our energies for :the marathon” ahead. \nStress reduction is all about our ability to emotionally self-regulate but realize any improvement must be done in healthy relationships and families. \nThe general group of people — whom sometimes we can safely call “toxic” — might resent your progress for any number of reasons. For caregivers\, these people are literally “energy vampires” at a time when we need to consolidate and enrich our energies. Perhaps they think you’ll no longer be in their life if you improve too much. Maybe they feel like your improvement exposes their own shortcomings. Or perhaps they’re just threatened by the idea of change. These “people” may be close or long distant caregivers or they may literally be in our communities we seek peace and serenity from. \nJoin Dr. Jamie as he join hands with you to facilitate your growth\, self-improvement and mental health by offering an important strategy for your emotional wellbeing and life’s journey. \n
